Are you tracking your misses?
Posted by Cheri Kuhn on
Do the same things keep popping up on your weekly task list? We're not talking about the general day-to-day stuff, we're talking about the bigger ticket items that keep popping up. Trust us when we say we've been there.
Before The Perfect Planner™, we found ourselves in the endless loop of copying and pasting things from the following week's to-do list. That is, until we started tracking our misses.
This concept is quite simple, but powerful in so many ways. At the end of each week, grab a red felt tip marker and circle the items on your calendar that didn’t get done. If you find you have too many circles (3+) each week, take a step back and see what you can do differently. Perhaps you need to clear the clutter and release some of those other to-do’s. Or do you need to better manage your priorities? Be intentional and hold yourself accountable.
This all sounds oversimplified, but we assure you it isn't. Without taking a step back to understand what isn't working, achieving our goals can take more time, or not get done at all. Your task this week is to grab the red pen and take a hard look at what isn't working. We promise you this simple exercise will start making things happen for you.
